CTO – Fuel Cell Technology

brightsmith are proud to partner with a leading Fuel Cell technology company based in the UK to expand their executive team. This is an opportunity for purpose driven experts to join a business launching products into multiple sectors globally and commencing a period of growth and change. The company is in transition from an R&D company into a commercial company with continuous R&D and are growing to support and catalyse this change.

CTO responsibilities:

  • Fuel Cell Technical Development / R&D leadership.
  • Collaborating with the engineering team to deliver technical solutions and ensure R&D is aligned to
  • Collaboration with the company’s production/ prototyping team to meet delivery targets for fuel cell stacks
  • Continuously surveying the technical landscape for new concepts and technology
  • Harvesting and management of the company’s IP
  • Technology transfer between R&D and production of fuel cells and stacks
  • Maintain key supply chain relationships at a technical level for components and service suppliers.
  • Review and sign-off of key component specifications and documentation associated with the development of fuel cells

Background:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in electrochemical systems or similar.
  • Excellent management skills and management capacity to interface with multiple teams for delivery a company objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to tailor the message to suit the audience.
  • Strong engagement in product development from early stage status to product readiness.
  • An advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history preferably within the Fuel Cell technology field.
  • Extensive renewable industry knowledge with an eye to the future.
  • Experience in chemical plant design would be ideal, but not essential.
  • Experience of representing your company at conferences and public engagements would also be beneficial.
