Our B Corp Journey
Becoming a certified B Corp isn’t just a badge, it’s a reflection of who we are, how we work, and what we stand for.
At Brightsmith, DE&I isn’t a statement on a wall. It’s built into the way we work, the standards we hold, and the future we want to help shape across the energy transition.
As a women-led organisation operating in a sector where representation remains uneven, we take our responsibility seriously. We believe diverse leadership drives better ideas, stronger teams and more resilient organisations, and our work is designed to make that real.
Why B Corp?
The B Corp certification is about more than being a “good” company, it’s about meeting the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It’s a commitment to doing business as a force for good.
We chose to pursue B Corp status because it aligns with everything Brightsmith stands for:
Putting people before profit
Building an inclusive, values-driven culture
Prioritising sustainability in every decision
Creating long-term value for our team, our clients, our candidates, and our community
Our B Corp Score: What It Means
In February 2024, Brightsmith officially became a Certified B Corporation with a score of 98.
To become B Corp certified, businesses must score at least 80 points across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. That’s not an easy bar to reach and we’re proud to have gone well beyond it.
This result is a reflection of the values we’ve embedded into every part of the business, from how we support our team, to how we work with clients and contribute to the community.
We’re proud of our score, but even more excited about what it represents: that purpose and performance can and should go hand in hand.

100% diverse shortlists
Whenever a search includes a shortlist, it includes diverse voices. No exceptions, no tokenism, no “nice to have”. This commitment shapes the leadership teams we help build and ensures clients always meet a broader, more representative range of talent.
40% of our executive placements are women
In a sector where senior representation still lags, we’re proud of the progress we’re helping to drive. Elevating women into executive roles is a core part of our mission and a natural outcome of our values-led approach to search.
Representation starts with us
Brightsmith’s own team is more than 50% women across our UK and US offices. We believe organisations should reflect the world they want to influence, and we hold ourselves to that same expectation.
What This Means for You
Whether you're a candidate, client, partner, or part of the Brightsmith team, our B Corp status is a promise to you. A promise that we’ll continue to work with integrity, transparency, and a deep sense of purpose.
We’re proud to be part of a global movement of businesses using their platform for good and we’re excited about what’s next.
What being a B Corp means to us
For us, B Corp isn’t a certification. It’s a commitment to building a company that reflects the world we want to see: equitable, diverse, transparent, and deeply human. Being led by a woman matters. It informs how we make decisions, support our team, hold ourselves accountable, and show up in an industry where representation still lags behind.
